Thursday Feb 03, 2022
Thursday Feb 03, 2022
How are you today? How's life treating you? Could you use some power, power for getting through the day, power for dealing with the pressure you're under, power for being a follower of Jesus?
Well, I don't have any power for you, but I'll go one better, I will show you the power that you already have, a power that you might never have realized. We find this power in a prayer of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians Chapter 1, beginning at verse 17, I'm not just going to read this, I'm going to pray this for you, and for me...

WHEN THINGS FALL APART | Psalm 40
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
Well, I am back in the book of Psalms today, needing to be in the book of Psalms today. As I started out the day feeling confused, upset by the news, by what's going on in the world, and I will always be grateful to my mom for first teaching me about the Psalms when I was a boy. When my mom told me that I could find a Psalm for every feeling I had. She said that there's a psalm for just about every life situation, and you know... My mom was right. As the Psalms have helped me so much through the years. And that's why I've come today to my old friend, the Book of Psalms. I don't have one particular psalm to share with you today so much as I have a life lesson learned from the book of Psalms, and that lesson comes with learning the three major types of Psalms there are. And learning how these three types speak to our different life situations.

TRUSTING WHEN YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND | Psalm 131
Saturday Jan 29, 2022
Saturday Jan 29, 2022
Do you have an I don't understand file? What I mean is do you have that place in your mind where you file things you do not understand? Things like, why doesn't God do something about this pandemic? Why did I get laid off from work or why did my son die from cancer? Actually, I have a growing I don't understand file. Things that I've learned to, well, to leave with God as I've come to realize that God is working on a much higher level than I am and there are questions that I would actually need the mind of God to understand the answer.

CASTING CARES ONTO GOD | Psalm 55:2
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
I didn't know what to talk about with you today. I was feeling scattered, bothered, weighed down, I just couldn't get it together. And then I thought about what I was feeling, and I remembered a time in the life of David when he was feeling something like that, and it helped me to remember what David did when he was burdened, and that took me to a Psalm of David... Psalm 55. And I will admit straight up that I wasn't facing anything like what David is facing in Psalm 55, but you know, it helped me to see how David deals with burdens. And I think it can help you too when you are burdened, bothered, just can't get it together.

WHEN IT FEELS MORE THAN YOU CAN BEAR | 2 Corinthians 1:8-9
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Have you ever felt that God gave you more than you can bear? And then someone tells you, Oh, that God promises us that he'll never give us more than we can bear. Well, you look at the Bible and you will see that God never promises that he won't give us more than we can bear, but God does promise us something more wonderful, and it's that wonderful that I wanna look at today. I am in 2 Corinthians chapter 1, where the great apostle Paul is telling us about a chapter in his life when God did give him more than he could bear, and how out of that, God gave him something very wonderful.

BOLD BEFORE GOD | Ephesians 3:12
Saturday Jan 22, 2022
Saturday Jan 22, 2022
How are you picturing God today? I mean in your mind's eye, are you seeing God as smiling at you? Is God, is he frowning? That does God look disappointed in you. Does God look like he's ticked off? Well, the reason why I'm asking is that how you and I picture God is just about the most important thing about us. Because how we picture God affects how we look at life, how we look at ourselves, how we look at others. There is a soul secret that we tend to move in the direction of the way we picture God, and so I wanna see if we can't use some scripture today to see if we can't bring into focus the way we picture God.

GOD’S DELIGHT IN YOU | Psalm 8
Thursday Jan 20, 2022
Thursday Jan 20, 2022
Did you see that moon last night? Wow, I mean, about 2:00 AM moonlights comes into our window, and I just had to get up and go outside and look at it, and there it was, I was moonstruck, I was mesmerized, and you know, they say that moon will be full for the next three nights if you wanna go out and look at it. But last night as I looked up at the moon, what came to mind were the words of the Psalm of David in Psalm 19, "The heavens are telling the Glory of God and the firmament proclaims his handy work. Day-to-day pours for speech and night to night declares knowledge." That means that every day, every night, you look up and the sky declares the power, the wisdom, the majesty of God, it's all there.

YOU MIGHTY WARRIOR | Judges 6
Tuesday Jan 18, 2022
Tuesday Jan 18, 2022
Oh, for the gift to see ourselves as others see us.
Scottish poet Robert Burns longs for that gift, but I see in God's word an even greater gift and that is the gift to see ourselves as God sees us. It could be huge for us.
We're going to look at this today in the Old Testament Book of Judges, Chapter 6, here is the back story.

GOD OUR DELIVERER | Psalm 40
Saturday Jan 15, 2022
Saturday Jan 15, 2022
The Psalms have helped me so much through the years. And that's why I've come today to my old friend, the Book of Psalms. I don't have one particular psalm to share with you today so much as I have a life lesson learned from the book of Psalms, and that lesson comes with learning the three major types of Psalms there are. And learning how these three types speak to our different life situations. Now, there are different names that Bible students give to these three types of psalms, but I like the names that Walter Brookerman, an Old Testament scholar gives them. He calls them Psalms of orientation, Psalms of disorientation, and Psalms of new orientation. And knowing these three types of Psalms can help us in reading the Psalms and help us in reading our own lives, so let's look at these three types, first, Psalms of orientation.

LIVING IN CHRIST’S VICTORY | 2 Corinthians 2:14
Thursday Jan 13, 2022
Thursday Jan 13, 2022
Now, there was a story going around about Satan having a big yard sale and Satan is selling office tools, he's selling off pride, envy, jealousy, hatred, things like that, and demons are showing up to buy... I wanna buy this tool, I wanna buy that one, but when the demon ask about a tool that's lying all by itself, over in a corner, Satan says No, no, no, no, keep your hands off of that one, not that one, that tool is not for sale. Why that tool has always been my best tool for attacking people, it's discouragement, discouragement works for me when all my other tools don't, Satan says... And he says, The good thing about discouragement is that people don't think of discouragement as coming from me. Defensible story? Well, yes, but not so fencible. God's people sometimes do struggle with discouragement in following Jesus...
