Well, I am back in the book of Psalms today, needing to be in the book of Psalms today. As I started out the day feeling confused, upset by the news, by what's going on in the world, and I will always be grateful to my mom for first teaching me about the Psalms when I was a boy. When my mom told me that I could find a Psalm for every feeling I had. She said that there's a psalm for just about every life situation, and you know... My mom was right. As the Psalms have helped me so much through the years. And that's why I've come today to my old friend, the Book of Psalms. I don't have one particular psalm to share with you today so much as I have a life lesson learned from the book of Psalms, and that lesson comes with learning the three major types of Psalms there are. And learning how these three types speak to our different life situations.

Psalm 55. And I will admit straight up that I wasn't facing anything like what David is facing in Psalm 55, but you know, it helped me to see how David deals with burdens. Have you ever felt that God gave you more than you can bear? And then someone tells you, Oh, that God promises us that he'll never give us more than we can bear. Well, you look at the Bible and you will see that God never promises that he won't give us more than we can bear, but God does promise us something more wonderful, and it's that wonderful that I wanna look at today. I am in 2 Corinthians chapter 1, where the great apostle Paul is telling us about a chapter in his life when God did give him more than he could bear, and how out of that, God gave him something very wonderful.

Did you see that moon last night? Wow, I mean, about 2:00 AM moonlights comes into our window, and I just had to get up and go outside and look at it, and there it was, I was moonstruck, I was mesmerized, and you know, they say that moon will be full for the next three nights if you wanna go out and look at it. But last night as I looked up at the moon, what came to mind were the words of the Psalm of David in Psalm 19, "The heavens are telling the Glory of God and the firmament proclaims his handy work. Day-to-day pours for speech and night to night declares knowledge." That means that every day, every night, you look up and the sky declares the power, the wisdom, the majesty of God, it's all there.

And knowing these three types of Psalms can help us in reading the Psalms and help us in reading our own lives, so let's look at these three types, first, Psalms of orientation.
